Matthew 6:19-21

Today’s the day that we celebrate our country. It’s a day to commemorate the signing of our Declaration of Independence…of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It’s also a day to bbq, swim, and try not to burn your fingers when you light up the sparklers. And yet, while I’m as patriotic as the next girl, I’m choosing to remember that today, while I may be celebrating the country that I live in, this place is not my forever home. I’m thinking of the place where there will be no more tears, no more sin, and where we get to be in the very presence of our God and Savior. So, in the midst of eating your hot dog as you are celebrating with family and friends, remember to loosen your grip on this earthly home, don’t get so caught up in the politics and the fireworks that you forget that you’re just traveling through this place on your way to heaven!
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
Matthew 6:19-21
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
